Smart Necklace

Wei-Ching Chen, Taiwan 16-18

This study presents Smart Necklace, an nonintrusive intelligent detecting device that measures any movement created by the muscles in the neck, such as drinking, eating, and coughing, as well as the wearer’s pulse. The method relies on a piezoelectric sensor to track the vibrations, and a deep learning model CNN to sort out different signals. The Smart Necklace can contribute to an aging society where a huge portion of the elderly have to live alone. In the future, it can be connected with a smartphone to send out information or warnings in real time to know the wearer’s condition.
