Generating electricity from the movement of air displaced by subway trains

Helena Frudit, Daniela Kow, Brazil 16-18

This project capitalizes on air masses displaced by subway trains, converting wind energy into electricity as a clean and renewable resource that could reduce public spending on energy. Horizontal and vertical turbines capture the moving air masses and convert them into energy that can be used to light the station or charge electronic devices. It would have a huge impact on local residents, because the money saved could be used in other sectors of society or even to reduce the cost of travel.
